Along came a ferret

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11a

This is the inspiration for the feature sections of the newsletter. “The Blood of the Lamb” to empower you to receive communion during your personal time with God. “The Word of their Testimony” to give you faith to believe that God cares about the circumstances you face, even right now, and will step in on your behalf.

The Word of their Testimony

Along came a ferret

This weeks testimony is from my wife:

In the spring of 2023, shortly after our move back to Pennsylvania from North Carolina, my son and I drove to a local rail-trail to take a peaceful evening hike. As we walked along the trail, we were talking and he said to me, life seemed the best before our move to North Carolina. I remembered hearing a sermon once, and it came to mind in that moment so I shared. I told him, when we get too comfortable we get stagnant and we don’t grow, God likes to keep us growing. That’s where our conversation immediately ended because we turned a corner and there was a ferret, yes a ferret, in the middle of the woods, with a weird head injury! It ran out on the trail and started to run toward us. We took off in the opposite direction along with a stranger and his two dogs, all of us, running down the trail being chased by a ferret, ferrets run fast by the way. Everything turned fine once we realized the ferret wasn’t a rabies infested monster. We fed him, gave him water, and a kind lady took him home to care for his injury. The peaceful walk that we were expecting was anything but, just like our lives since we stepped out of the comfortable and into the unknown… crazy, uncomfortable and definitely unpredictable. Thank you God for your perfect illustration, and thank you that it wasn’t a skunk!

The Blood of the Lamb

The end of human history will be a meal, the great marriage supper of the lamb. A meal caused Adam and Eve to sin, a meal offered to them by the serpent. Receiving that meal was a mistake and they bonded to the evil one instead of their heavenly father. The good news is that Jesus came to be our meal and to reconcile us to the father. Every time we eat and drink we declare the Lords death until he comes.

Body/Bread

As the supper was progressing, Jesus took the bread and he gave thanks, he blessed it and he broke it. He declared, this is my body broken for you. Thank you Lord for this sacrifice you made, the eternal life you give, this body that was broke for us, we receive it today in your name Jesus. (Receive the bread)

Blood/Wine

When the supper was concluded he took one of the cups that was part of the ceremony and declared, this is my blood shed for you. As often as you eat and drink do this in the name of the Lord. God we thank you for this ultimate sacrifice, the gift of your son. We thank you Lord Jesus that you poured out your life for us. We receive this with thanks in Jesus name. (Receive the wine)

In case you missed it

A thought provoking comment in light of all that is going on in our world.

Lyric of the week

“He’s faithful through generations, so why would he fail now? He won’t”

Remember that God is faithful, His word, His promises, they are true. “Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures.” Psalms 119:90 NIV. Can wars, elections or “global warming” restrict God’s faithfulness, no shot!

Scripture

This verse is an on time reminder to us, that in today’s world, all the enemy wants is division and strife. We have to choose to battle against that or unity will become extinct…
