Ask, or Exercise Authority?

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11a
This is the inspiration for the feature sections of the newsletter. “The Blood of the Lamb” to empower you to receive communion during your personal time with God. “The Word of their Testimony” to give you faith to believe that God cares about the circumstances you face, even right now, and will step in on your behalf.
The Word of their Testimony

Ask or Exercise Authority?
This week’s testimony comes from my friend Judy.
Judy works at a nursing home and back on Thursday January 11th she lost her glasses while at work. When she couldn't find them, coworkers from several departments helped her look high and low to no avail. She said, "We couldn't find them anywhere, it's as if they disappeared from the face of the earth".
Fast forward several days to Monday January 22nd, Judy was at a prayer meeting and a friend asked her if she watched the live stream they like to watch. The friend told Judy, someone had a story about missing glasses. The next day Judy watched the video and a man shared something that just happened to him when he lost his glasses. He and his wife had searched for them all over, he even asked Holy Spirit for help but a week later the glasses were still missing. As he was talking to the Lord he had a thought, "do we ask, or do we exercise the authority He's already given us? So he said, "I want my glasses back, I do like my glasses, I want my glasses back." Soon after that he goes back into his car, checks the center console for "the fifth time" and there are his glasses. The story encouraged Judy, she said, I'm doing that, so before she went to bed she said, "In the name of Jesus I want my glasses back and I command you glasses to come back to me."
When Judy arrived at work on Wednesday, she expected to see here glasses sitting on the desk at the nurses station, but they weren't there. She may have had doubts but on Thursday something extraordinary happened. Judy was at work and was preparing some wheelchairs when she heard something hit the ground behind her and when she looked, there were her glasses with not a scratch on them.
As I typed out this testimony, I was reminded of a verse in one of my favorite chapters in the Bible, John chapter 9, where Jesus heals a man who was born blind. The Pharisees were investigating the healing, they questioned the man who was born blind, but he didn't know how Jesus healed him. His response to them was, "What I do know, I was blind but now I see." In both testimony's they couldn't explain how it happened but what they do know, their glasses were lost but now are found.
I put a link to the video Judy watched at the bottom of the newsletter. It's a 3 minute story.

The Blood of the Lamb

Jesus came to his disciples and said how eagerly I have desire to eat this Passover with you. Do you think he feels any different with us then he did with them? Jesus we want you. The Lord eagerly desires to be here with you. Then he said, as often as you do it you remember me. I wonder if it's the whisper of a lover who's basically whispering, I really want you to do it all the time. It's the bread of his face, we're not just taking bread, we're encountering his face. This is an encounter with his face, and his blood is life, healing everything, health and wholeness. I think he's whispering to lovers. Why is He always coming to Bethany, because someone wants him. We want you, we desire your presence today in the body and the blood of Jesus, we receive you.
Body/Bread
So on the night he was betrayed, he took the bread and blessed it saying, this is my body broken for you. (Receive the bread)
Blood/Wine
Then he took the cup and said this is my blood poured out for you. (Receive the wine)
In case you missed it
There’s a lot of discussion over the “He Gets Us” Super Bowl commercial. I was thankful for it when I first saw it but I can understand some of the points people have made. My initial thought to the opposition was a reminder of Philippians 1:18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
Here is a redo of the commercial from a pastor in the UK.
The Christian Super Bowl Ad They SHOULD Have Made
A group known as 'He Gets Us' released an advert during the Super Bowl which, whilst perhaps well intentioned, failed to convey anything of the gospel to the hundreds of millions who saw it.

Lyric of the week
“So why would I make a bed in my shame,
When a fountain of grace is running my way”
You were made for more, don’t let shame from a past mistake keep you from what God has, you’ve already been forgiven just receive it.
Scripture
Unconfessed sin can hang over you. Confess that thing and get free!
