Brickyard Redemption

The Word of their Testimony

Brickyard Redemption

This week’s testimony is one I heard about a few days ago. It occurred in the last month in the Middle East. It took place at a brick making operation where people are enslaved and forced to make bricks. As with many testimonies from the Middle East, some details were not given due to security reasons, so I spent some time in order to paint a picture for you, here's what I found.

I wasn't aware but there are millions of people trapped in modern day slavery forced to work at brick manufacturing facilities in the Middle East. There are many documentaries on YouTube that share stories of families, several generations working together to pay off loans that were taken decades ago. One docu shared the story of a man who took a loan to pay off a hospital bill and has been working to pay it off for 20+ years. His wife, 70 year old mother and 12 year old son were also there working with him, to pay off a hospital bill.

I found another video that told the story of a husband and wife who are Christians. They have been working at a brick factory for 25 years to pay back a debt. When asked how important the man’s faith in Jesus is, he gave this response. "I don't get disappointed with how God is working in my life situation" he went on to say, "All the Christians who live in America are like my family: I pray for all of them, that God may bless them."

So, the testimony… A few Christians found out about a factory like this, so they went to the owner of the factory and asked how much they would have to pay to give all the slaves a day off. He wanted two thousand dollars, so they paid him and then they preach the gospel to the slaves and a bunch of them got saved. Sometime after, the grandson of the slave owner was bitten by a poisonous snake. The slave owner was shocked to that the slaves he thought should hate him were actually very worried about his grandson and were praying for him and the grandson ends up gets healed. Now the news about Jesus is spreading from slave owners slave owner.

The Blood of the Lamb

God's word tells us, as often as we eat this bread and drink this cup we proclaim the Lord's death until He comes. Jesus, you paid the price for the sins of the world. You destroyed death as the final authority and offer eternal life to all who would believe. You are our ransom and our rescuer. In what looked like total failure, you succeeded, overcoming deepest despair and darkest evil. Rather than running from our ugliness, selfishness and depravity of sin, you ran to our aid and took all our sins and nailed them to the cross. At your name we declare, every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

 Body/Bread

Paul writes that on the night Jesus was betrayed, He took bread, and He gave thanks. God, we thank you for this bread. We thank you that in a mystery this bread becomes so much more. You took the bread, and you blessed it, you gave thanks. Thank you God for this gift. Then he broke it saying, this is my body given for you. God it is with gratitude, with awe, with wonder, with worship that we receive this gift. (Receive the bread)

 Blood/Wine

Likewise, He took the cup after they had eaten saying, this cup that is poured out for you, it is the new covenant in my blood. Lift your cup. God we thank you for the price you paid and we thank you for the fullness of your sacrifice that sets us free. We drink this cup in allegiance to you but much more we partake of your life and your covenant again in Jesus name. (Receive the wine)
