The Word of their Testimony

Coffee, Eggs and Testimonies

Last week I went to breakfast with a friend to catch up. As we talked, we ended up sharing several testimonies with each other. I really enjoyed hearing how God has answered his prayers and hope you are also encouraged.

Shortly into our talk he told me that the day prior he was sitting in his basement, he cried out to God for help, seconds later his phone rang. It was a long time friend that he hadn't spoken to in over 2 years. Hearing from a friend out of the blue was an unexpected answer to his prayer.

He told another story of a change he was considering. He felt like he wanted to quit some thing, but wanted to seek out God's will first. He left the room he was in, went to the car and prayed. Lord, I need to make this decision, I want to quit, I’m seeking what you want. He opened his Bible and the first words he saw spoke to his situation. He was not released to quit so he continued on.

Finally he told a story about a phone call he received from a friend. The friends uncle was near death and he called for prayer. The friend really wanted his uncle to wake up so he could hear the gospel before he passed. My friend prayed with him, after their phone call he didn’t hear from his friend for a few days. When his friend called, he told him that his uncle had woken up shortly after they prayed, and was able to hear the gospel, receive Christ, and then closed his eyes and passed away.

His life is a testimony, a reminder to us that if we seek God he will answer.

The Blood of the Lamb

Communion has been central to Christian worship for 2000 years. It defines us, it's a common meal provided by the one who took everything that was against us and gave us Himself. So amazing how much God wants to be with us. We read in Luke's account, when the hour came He reclined at the table and the apostles with Him. He said, I've eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you. He eagerly desires to share Himself with all of us.

 Body/Bread

Paul writes that on the night Jesus was betrayed, He took bread, and He gave thanks. God we thank you for this bread. We thank you that in a mystery this bread becomes so much more. You took the bread and you blessed it, you gave thanks. Thank you God for this gift. Then he broke it saying, this is my body given for you. God it is with gratitude, with awe, with wonder, with worship that we receive this gift. (Receive the bread)

 Blood/Wine

Likewise He took the cup after they had eaten saying, this cup that is poured out for you, it is the new covenant in my blood. Lift your cup. God we thank you for the price you paid and we thank you for the fullness of your sacrifice that sets us free. We drink this cup in allegiance to you but much more we partake of your life and your covenant again in Jesus name. (Receive the wine)
