Declaration of Dependence

The Word of their Testimony

Declaration of Dependence
On July 4, 1776, a diverse group of men - farmers, businessmen, lawyers, and scholars, many in their 20s and 30s gathered to proclaim our nation's freedom from British rule by signing a declaration of independence.
A few weeks ago, I heard someone share a prayer they pray each morning. He said, "Every morning, I try to pray this prayer, God because you loved me first and set me free, today I offer myself to you, to build with me and to do with me as you will, Holy Spirit relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do your will." He went on to say, "this little prayer has the power to change your life."
As I reflected on that prayer, I realized it's a declaration of dependence. A contrast to the founding father’s declaration of independence.
As we celebrate our nations independence, we should also not forget our dependence on God. Our nation declared independence for liberty, but we declare our dependence on God for true freedom and direction. I encourage you to make a daily declaration of dependence on God, it will change your life. Happy Fourth of July!
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
The Blood of the Lamb

2 Corinthians 5:21, God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. That's so powerful when we really meditate and dwell on it. John Piper phrases it this way: "By faith, by trusting in all that God is for us in Jesus, we nourish our ourselves with the benefits that Jesus obtained for us when he bled and died on the cross." He made it possible for us to have peace and right standing with Jesus, to have hope, to have hope for a future. God our peace is dependent on you showing up, our future is dependent on you delivering on your promises.
Body/Bread
If you have your bread let's break it. Lord this is your body broken for us, thank you Jesus for your body broken for us. Father, for all disease, for all iniquities, for all our own issues, we thank you for the body of Christ, we lift in up with gratitude in our hearts. (Receive the bread)
Blood/Wine
Afterwards he took the cup in the same manner, when he had given thanks, he gave it to them and said drink all of you for this is my blood of the covenant being poured out for the forgiveness of sins. God we thank you for your blood poured out for our sins, for our transgressions, God, we didn't deserve it, we didn't earn it, we can't earn it father it only comes from you. Let's take this moment to examine our hearts, our lives, our own issues. We thank you that you sent your only son to allow right standing with you father. (Receive the wine)
