Highway Worship

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11a
This is the inspiration for the feature sections of the newsletter. “The Blood of the Lamb” to empower you to receive communion during your personal time with God. “The Word of their Testimony” to give you faith to believe that God cares about the circumstances you face, even right now, and will step in on your behalf.
The Word of their Testimony

Highway Worship
There was a time in my life when I had a 30+ minute commute to work, in fact, it was a long time. Over the years, I found in the morning commute, a great opportunity to spend time with the Lord mostly praying and worshiping. I wish I would have written down the many things God did in my life during those hours we spent on the road together. Encouragement #1: When you experience God in your life, write it down.
I remembered one of those times as I was thinking about sharing this. I had an old Saab which I particularly enjoy worshiping in because it had a sunroof which allowed me to raise my hand while worshiping. Well at some point the radio or CD player stopped working so I had no music for weeks. One day on my way home I was a bit frustrated by the lack of music and that frustration caused me to finally do something about it. I don't recall if I prayed for it to start working or commanded it in Jesus name, probably both. It started working the next day. Encouragement #2: Pray to God and speak to your mountains.
Have you ever experienced the presence of God during worship at church? How about driving in your car alone? I have many times, it goes beyond just getting into a song and singing loudly. It's when the song turns into your heartfelt pray, a declaration of your faith in the one who gave everything for you that God's presence can be felt. I would often cry, even weep, sometimes in desperation, other times in jubilation. I may have arrived at work with puff eyes and a raspy voice, but I had peace because I knew He was with me. Encouragement #3 Get in your car and worship.
This weeks “Lyric of the week” is a song I sang many times, at the top of my lungs, on my commute.
The Blood of the Lamb

James, talking about Abraham says, you see that faith was active along with his works. That faith was even completed, by his works. For as the body apart from the Spirit is dead, so also, faith apart from works is dead. Faith comes by hearing, we listen, the Lord brings us this gift. Paul says in First Corinthians, it's a gift. Holy Spirit, would you come and impart the grace that brings faith? We bring faith to this table. We bring faith to this table. Connecting to this bread and this wine, this body and this blood, we bring faith to this table. Because we're sowing, what we want to reap. So come and honor our faith, pour out faith on me. I believe… I believe.
Body/Bread
The night that you were betrayed you took bread, you broken it and blessed it. This is my body, which is broken for you, as often as you do this, you remember me. So Jesus, we participate in your body… we participate in your body. We rise from the dead… we rise from the dead and with us, every calling, every gifting, every heavenly opportunity, every ordination, every moment that was set aside from before time began and your destination, your destiny on our lives God. Every brokenness, every sickness, every marriage that's under stress, every child that is wayward. We come participating as the broken parts of this body believing that in your death, we die, and in your resurrection, we are raised to life again, so we bring faith to this table. (Receive the bread)
Blood/Wine
In the same way, when you had finished, you took the cup, and you said this cup is the cup of my blood, this is the new covenant. So we come to participate in the new covenant here. Heaven on earth, heaven in us, the image of God, sons and daughters. We just say to all creation waiting, wait no more, we're here. By this blood, we can say wait no more. Lord, fulfill your hope in us, bless its taking. (Receive the wine)

Lyric of the week
“And if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us”
Chris Tomlin- “Every night in concert when we get to the part of the song where we sing 'if our God is for us,' it's amazing to see what happens, to see so many people rise up in that statement. If you really believe in God, you know that everything is possible. Anything can happen. Miracles can happen. All things are available to you no matter what you're going through, no matter what you're facing, no matter what is coming against you. Life comes against all of us but you know God is for you. That's straight from the scripture. It's not just my thought. It's not just my idea or opinion. The scripture tell us 'if God is for you then who can be against you.' I love the hope that is in that statement. I think when people see that in the stores and they pick it up or they see it online, hopefully it just instantly takes them to that idea - 'God is for me today!’"
Scripture
When we grasp the truth that God is for us, we have nothing to fear.
