The Great Communion Revival

The Word of their Testimony

The Great Communion Revival

Call me crazy but when I hear a testimony about how God is moving in the earth it brings me to tears. This happened recently when I was catching up on a service that took place a few weeks back.

On May 4th, there was a Great Communion Revival Gathering in Chicago. Church leaders from all over the city came together to take communion. When I saw that it had taking place, I was interested in watching because last year heard Lou Engle share about the Great Communion Revival. His message stirred several things in me, one of which is the inspiration to include a personal communion message in each newsletter.

For the sake of time, I’m not going to go into details about the Great Communion Revival except to say, in John 17, Jesus is praying for the unity of the believers, “That they may be one as we are one- I in them and you in me- so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me…” Have you ever considered those words, especially in the world we live in? The church is divided, Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant. The Protestant church has many denominations, what possibly could bring the unity Jesus prayed for besides his body and blood.

The testimony was from a man named Weyman Dodson from Greenville SC. About 3 years ago he lost his wife in a car accident and shortly after he had a dream. In the dream he rode a Harley into the city of Chicago. He spent a lot of time praying about the dream over the next 6-7 months and then took the bold step to drive across the country to meet with Lou in Colorado. They spent a few days praying and discussing finally Lou said you gotta go to Chicago!

Weyman drove back to Greenville, packed his things and headed for Chicago with an encouragement from Lou to look for prophetic signs. On the way, he stopped in Nashville at a Starbucks. He walked up to the counter to get a drink and the baristas name was Chicago.

He didn’t know anybody in Chicago, he was going there by faith. He sent out texts to pastors and evangelists asking if anyone had a connection in Chicago. As he was driving in, he received a message that there was a pastor who wanted to receive him at his house, so he navigated to the town, Zion. When he reached Zion, he went to the Walmart. It was there that he actually looked at the pastor’s address, W. Dodson Street! The pastor’s address was his name!

Friends, God is doing something in Chicago! Do you know Chicago is the murder capital of the United States? I’ve even heard it called “Chi-raq” because there are more murders and violence that occur in Chicago than the war in Iraq. The Bible makes several references to blood crying out from the ground, but there is a blood that speaks a better word! I believe a shift has just taken place in Illinois. Thank you Lord.

The Blood of the Lamb

Bread and horses are useless if you don't break them. You can't stuff a whole loaf in your mouth and horse that's not broken isn't much good. God gently blesses and breaks us, making us more like his son.

 Body/Bread

While they were eating, Jesus took bread and after blessing it, broke it and gave it to the disciples. Take and eat, they were all expecting that, then he blows their minds, he says, this is my body. Thousands of years they'd been eating the Passover meal, and no one had ever said something like that. He extends the same offer to us today, to partake of his humanity. Father, we thank you for this supernatural meal, we proclaim, we participate in all that it is until he comes, in Jesus name. (Receive the bread)

 Blood/Wine

He took a cup and when he had given thanks, he said drink it, all of you, for this is my blood, the new the covenant, which is poured out for many, for the forgiveness of sins. Isn't this amazing, it's through his blood we have remission of sins. In his blood we're now partakers of that, once and for all sacrifice and so we drink it because it's his life. The life is in the blood, and he invites us to be participants in this meal until the great marriage supper of the lamb. God, this is beyond our human understanding, we ask you to bless it, we ask you to fill us with life even as we participate in this today. We drink it in reverence, in awe and in gratitude that you would choose us and pay the price that we would be united with you forever as the bride of Christ. (Receive the wine)
